and residencies in a variety of settings. He has persevered
in bringing quality storytelling performances to public and private
schools, under-served and ethnically diverse schools and youth

- Performances
-
Performances center around the concept of African
Stories in the Americas™ that can take on the
history, stories, folklore, personalities and spoken word
styles that are a
part of African/American culture.
Baba Jamal's stories range from Aesop' s fables to Shaka the Zulu
King.
He may throw the Eagle and the Chickens in the mix or his rendition of Sundiata
the Lion King of Mali. Baba Jamal's trend setting storytelling style
has become a standard in many performance circles. From opening to
closing, there is focus, exuberance and interaction. He also creates
programs for special audiences or venues or occasions. Additionally, from time to
time he collaborates with other artists for special cultural arts presentations.
- Workshops and Residencies
-
- Workshops and residency programs provide choices for creative
language exploration, cultural appreciation, and an opportunity to
learn the storytelling arts from a dedicated storytelling
professional. Using the African Universal Operational
System (Reese, 1960), Baba Jamal can develop learning environments
to cover a wide variety of topics across age groups, academic
levels, and race factors.
