"Every Story is Not for Every Ear" Baba Jamal Koram
Animal Stories enable us to learn about those animals in our midst and those from ancestral lands, and including animals from other places around the world. With animal stories we can give animals human characteristics and allow them to discuss concerns, solve problems and meet the challenges that we face as humans In Praise of African Women is a series of tales, some truly historical fiction, with a common theme - - women of African ancestry who have made a commitment to the quality of life and to the dignity of living for African peoples. These women are mothers, warriors, wives, sisters, grandmothers, artists, workers, leaders, and defenders of the culture. From the Book Aesop: Tales of Aethiop the African Vol. II, by Baba Jamal Koram. Baba Jamal has captured the African philosophical essence of Aesop's Fables in three volumes of Aesop: Tales of Aethiop the African. Here are a couple. . . Busara is a word that describes African Americans or Blacks born in the Americas. It is a word that has roots in the Bantu languages as well as in other world African languages. It enables us to at once connect to Africa linguistically, while at the same time allows us to respect the uniqueness of our "western" cultural development. The Washitaw are a Black nation of indigenous people commonly referred to as "Black Indians." Many Black folks in American who claim "Indian" heritage share common lineage with the Washitaw. Nature Story: Watermelon Eatin' Contest In many places around the world, a lot of folks grow their own food and in theses places of food growing there are food-growing contests, like who can grow the biggest head of cabbage, the largest ear of corn, the most pyramidic pumpkin, and the most massive melon.
Mali Kings A Folkoric Expression Into the History of Mali, Afraka Anansi couldn't get to sleep. Something was in the air. It was in the atmosphere and felt like some bad news was coming. Sho' nuff it came on the drum line. Drum talk fillin up the air. Drums from afar. Afrakan drums from afar . . . Afrikan Wisdom Afrikan Proverbs are Afrikan Wisdom. It makes no difference where Afrikans live, our wisdom prevails. Proverbs are brief sayings which add understanding and awareness to the cause and effect of life situations.
