About The Afrikan Heritage Education Camps
The Stronger the Drumming, The Stronger the Culture © Jamal Koram, 1994 The purpose of AHED is to provide a structured program of cultural activities which will help to introduce youth to African/American cultures through active involvement in storytelling performance, drumming, crafts, history, personal development and recreational activities. These activities are expected to enable youth to come to terms with challenges to positive behavior and to societal threats.
The campers are instructed by professional artists and educators, who have made a commitment to the raising of our youth. Through these efforts in teaching the arts, young folks learn:

These programs are held during selected weekends during the school year.
The summer Afrikan Drumming Camp is a week long camping adventure which is geared to provide the camper with an opportunity to experience African American from different backgrounds. The camp involves outdoor camping, hiking, recreation, historical and cultural training, and self discipline through storytelling and drumming. Eligibility:
